Treatment of acne by Levulan Photodynamic procedure involves the application of Levulan, a photosensitizing agent, which is then activated with blue-light. This combination of Levulan and Blue-U light results in significant improvement in moderate to severe cystic acne.
The combination of combination of Levulan and Blue-U fights acne in three ways: First, Levulan PDT inactivates the bacteria that triggers acne, exfoliates the skin to unclog pores, and finally, levulan treatment shuts down the sebaceous glands in the skin.
